The Forester in Training will support the planning and delivery of silvicultural programs, likely gaining experience working on both public and private lands. The position includes a combination of field and office duties and both hands-on delivery and contractor support. The field work duties may include overnight camp stays, boat and aircraft travel and a physical demanding work environment.
The position requires commitment to our safety and environmental management systems. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support post-harvest activities, such as reforestation, fertilization, vegetation management (manual and chemical applications) , prescribed burning and fire protection
Track and Report on silvicultural activities
Participate in the maintenance of Mosaic Forest Management environmental certification programs
Participate in operational research trials
Potential to job shadow with experienced consultants in the field through each silvicultural phase
