PLT Canada has launched a new Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) certification that can be added to the existing Forestry SHSM program. This certification is focused on decision making, using the development of a forest management plan as the concept for the course.

Diverse Perspectives in Sustainable Natural Resource Management (SHSM certification)

This course is offered in partnership with the Beanstalk Academy—a high-quality SHSM provider that has created an entertaining course using videos and virtual interviews to make a direct connection for students and teachers to real-life scenarios.

The interactive 1–1.5 hour course will:

  • Advance student learning
  • Improve the narrative around forestry in the province
  • Encourage students to pursue a green career pathway

The Diverse Perspectives in Sustainable Natural Resource Management SHSM certification is a self-paced, on-demand workshop that includes:

  • Eight videos and a worksheet.
  • An activity for students to develop a sustainable management plan where they have to balance the social, economic, and environmental interests of their community.
