Project Learning Tree Canada (PLT Canada) advances environmental literacy, stewardship, and career pathways using trees and forests as windows on the world. We are committed to using our forests to engage youth in learning about the world around them —in rural, Indigenous and urban communities— and we inspire youth to take action for sustainable forests and a sustainable planet. We introduce young people to green jobs and careers in forestry and natural resources management and help to grow the next generation of future forest and conservation leaders.
Project Learning Tree (plt.org) was founded in the United States in the mid-1970s and has become one of the most widely used preK-12 environmental education programs in the United States and abroad. PLT in the U.S. works with a diverse, national network to provide professional development and curriculum resources to classroom teachers, youth group leaders, and other adults who help to educate our children. PLT also has a presence in Japan, Mexico, and Uruguay, and its curriculum has been translated into several languages.
PLT is an initiative of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, a non-profit organization that envisions a society that values and benefits from sustainably managed forests.
