Project Learning Tree Canada Elevates Ontario’s Forest Sector With Green Jobs Series

February 18, 2026

The future of our forest sector depends on a skilled workforce, so it is more important than ever to keep forestry top of mind for young people. PLT Canada, with the support from the Ontario Skills Development Fund, hosted exciting events and programming to help over 200 young people interested in Ontario’s forest sector access meaningful opportunities to learn about jobs in forestry and conservation.

Green Jobs Grow in Ontario: PLT Canada Virtual Career Fair

One highlight was the Green Jobs Grow in Ontario: PLT Canada Virtual Career Fairwhich connected students and job seekers  with organizations in Ontario’s forest and conservation sector. The event brought together 37 employers from 26 organizations and attracted over 270 registrants, giving young people a chance to connect directly with the sector and potentially even land a green job.

Attendees gained valuable connections. One job seeker shared, “I connected with organizations and companies that I have been actively applying to roles within – hopefully strengthening my application by showing up! while an employer shared a testimonial, “The career fair was a great way to meet youth in the field of environmental science and to promote our upcoming job opportunities.”
