Rideau Gymnastics is one of the best-equipped gymnastics facilities in Canada. It offers all streams of gymnastics at recreational and competitive levels, through programs for children, special needs individuals, adults, and seniors, including classes, camps, school trips, workshops, open houses, summer camps, PD-day childcare and holiday-themed events for families. Rideau is the largest gymnastics facility in the Ottawa area and provides year-round opportunities for participation in activities that promote physical well-being through sports, mental well-being through creativity and self-expression, and social well-being through community connections fostered through all our programming. We bolster the local economy through numerous full- and part-time jobs and have provided employment to more than 500 youth in the last seven years. Ever since our establishment, Rideau Gymnastics has been dedicated to the full inclusion of everyone in our diverse community. This includes servicing underrepresented populations with classes for seniors, coaching for children with special needs, and a school board partnership to offer after-school activities in French.

Company History

Rideau Gymnastics was founded in 2016 with the goal to provide residents of the greater West Ottawa area and the adjacent rural communities a friendly and safe facility where children and adults of all ages have the opportunity to achieve their personal fitness goals in a family atmosphere. Rideau Gymnastics’ mission is rooted in the belief that gymnastics is truly for everyone — from the youngest child to the senior citizen, and that success is not only measured in medals, but also in increased resilience, determination, and confidence. Our mission is based on an atmosphere of diversity, inclusion, and respect for all, offering programming for everyone in our community at every age and level in multiple disciplines. We are committed to the well-being of our athletes, their families and, by extension, the communities they live in and that support us. For these reasons, we have always placed a priority on community engagement — reaching out to our neighbours with regular open houses, Family Day activities, and club participation in local events such as fall fairs and holiday parades. In social media and correspondence, we often refer to our club as our “Rideau Family.” This speaks to our mission of creating a gymnastics facility that offers so much more than gymnastics — a place that celebrates and empowers individuals and, through them, our community.
At present, we provide children and adults of all ages opportunities to achieve their personal fitness goals in a family atmosphere. We offer programs for all skill levels, under the guidance of qualified and talented staff from around the world, including artistic gymnastics, power tumbling, trampoline, acrobatics, dance fitness, and yoga. At present we offer the following classes:
• Parent and Toddler: A mixed program for children aged six months to three years. The program develops vital motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and helps overall child fitness;
• Kinder-gym: For children between four and five years of age. Lesson plans are designed to teach progressions and build basic skills for all of the gymnastics events;
• Recreational Programs: For children of all ages. All classes follow and implement Gymnastics Canada Cangym programs;
• Recreational Adult Gymnastics: Designed for adults and seniors with an interest in developing new skills and learning the foundations of the sport;
• Competitive programs: For athletes who compete provincially, nationally, and internationally;
Last year 4,878 community members participated in our programs, showing significant growth from our opening just three years ago. We are now implementing a program that will see more than 7,000 regularly exercising members within two years.
Our competitive athletes participate regularly in national and international competitions.
At present, we are one of the best-equipped facilities in Canada.

Company Facts

Gymnastics builds strength, discipline, motor skills, stamina, and perseverance. It also improves concentration and flexibility. Our team is dedicated to teaching children and adults alike but we are also passionate about the environment. Considering that Canada has one of the largest ecological footprints per capita and it is one of the worst offenders when it comes to counting food waste we strongly believe that children should be acquainted with these issues from a young age and are thought of ways to remedy some of the problems created by our way of living. Our summer camp participants will have the opportunity to visit a specially designed organic garden where they will learn how fruits and vegetables are grown locally, teach the benefits of locally grown food and how this reduces our carbon footprint, as well as ways to limit food waste. We plan to teach more than 1,100 children during the summer camps.
