Echo Ecological Enterprises Ltd is an environmental consulting company based in the Greater Vancouver area that focuses on riparian restoration. Ecological restoration aims to accelerate the recovery of a degraded ecosystem and return it to a pre-disturbed state by adjusting the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the area.

Our goal is to conduct research, habitat restoration and engage in stewardship for degraded ecosystems on the south coast of British Columbia. Echo Ecological utilizes this idea to provide habitat conservation and restoration services to previously disturbed aquatic and terrestrial environments. We aim to provide solutions to ecological conservation problems through site assessments, monitoring and detailed individual project design.

We strive to:
Develop local habitat mapping and restoration projects
Support community stewardship efforts for protecting local wetlands and riparian areas
Work with individuals, community-based organizations, businesses, local governments & schools to undertake initiatives to achieve wetlands conservation & habitat restoration.

Company History

Echo Ecological began in 2015 by three female biologists and graduates of BCIT’s Ecological Restoration BSc program. Tara Matthews, Deanna MacTavish and Julia Allards-Tomalin began their work restoring an estuary and creek in North Vancouver. In 2018, Krystal Brennan joined as a fourth partner. Today, Echo Ecological works as a contractor and a partner in environmental stewardship activities throughout BC’s Lower Mainland. We regularly work for cities, provincial governments, regional districts and private companies to conduct surveys and restoration work on degraded ecosystems.
