The Hare Bay Parks & Recreation Committee is a group of volunteers who work to provide programs, events and facilities for the residents of Hare Bay. The Committee is also the overseer of Hare Bay Municipal RV Park and its operations.

Company History

The Hare Bay Recreation Committee started in 2005 planning events for the community of Hare Bay and also took care of the outdoor ice rink every winter. In 2011 the committee won the Let Them Be Kids grant and was able to build 2 playgrounds in the community. In 2014 we held a successful week long Come Home Year celebration. From the momentum of the Come Home Year our committee was able to secure funds yearly to offer kids programs, seniors programs and a program for youth with exceptionalities. We still take care of the rink and playgrounds and in 2018 we took over responsibility of our municipal park. It was in an overgrown, rundown state and it was the desire of all residents to see it brought back to it’s former glory. Our town manager had allowed a contractor to go in and start clearing the road and campsites, however they were not doing a good job. The work they were doing was ruining the area, not bringing it back to life. We as a committee requested that we be allowed to take over the operations and come up with a plan to revitalize the area in a way that would protect the environment and beautify the area. We have created a beautiful camping area and are working on a day use area and plan to incorporate walking trails in the park starting this year. We have a beautiful ridge overlooking the ocean that will allow us to create a variety of trails ranging in difficulty.

Company Facts

Our committee consists of 10 volunteers that meets on a regular basis to discuss and plan programs and events for the community. We oversee the park operations of Hare Bay Municipal RV Park. We are fully supported by the Hare Bay town council. For the past three years we have been able to hire a recreation coordinator to run the summer, senior and youth programs. We are at the point where we need a campground attendant as well. We have had summer students work there in the past when they were not working with our rec. coordinator on the summer programs. We need someone to work there full time through the summer.
