JPlant is a propagation nursery with a focus on rare and edible plants, and native species. JPlant is focused on teaching skills to young people.

JPlant opened in 2014 with a focus on growing young plant liners for the professional of the horticulture industry. Currently the business wholesales plants to nurseries and greenhouses nationally.
The owner, a master horticulturist with over 20 years of education and experience, is focused on teaching his skills to seasonal staff. He wants to share passion for propagation and plants and as a result the staff get to learn from a master.
In 2020 JPlant increased its infrastructure with a new greenhouse and irrigation system. Onsite staff were able to be hands on in this growth. The team (which included 2 students) were able to help in;
– the construction of the greenhouse
– water testing
– irrigation set up
– planning of plant positions based on hardiness zones
In 2021 JPlant will add another 300 new varieties to its catalogue. This means more opportunity for the team to learn.

– Students make up 15-30% of the staff every season
