About the Green Mentor program

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Project Learning Tree Canada are proud to offer mentorship programs to support youth, including those facing additional barriers to employment, advance their green career pathways.

The Green Mentor program connects youth (ages 18-30) with green jobs professionals across the United States and Canada. It helps create a highly valuable relationship, where the mentee expands their forest and conservation knowledge, career goals and networks, and the mentor fosters the next generation of leaders, shares advice and gains a new perspective.

SFI and PLT Canada are accepting mentee and mentor applications until August 16, 2024. The SFI/PLT Canada 2024 Green Mentor cohort will run from late August to early December 2024.

In additional to the requirements above, this program requires a commitment to pre-mentorship training (two hours over two weeks), a minimum of four-three to four hours of monthly meetup with your mentee, and two mandatory webinars (Kick-off, and Final Celebration), as well as two feedback surveys over the three-month period.
