Join PLT Canada and SFI as we explore forest certification and the impact of SFI’s conservation initiatives. This webinar will feature Zac Wagman, Senior Manager of Market Access; Greg Cooper, Director of Conservation Implementation; and Chase Cook, Senior Manager of Conservation Implementation. Together, they will discuss the importance of forest certification, the impact of conservation efforts, and how they support sustainable forest management.

Greg Cooper, Director, Conservation Implementation, SFI
Greg plays a central role in SFI’s conservation program by supporting the continual improvement of conservation practices and outcomes. He provides sophisticated technical and scientific expertise, specifically relating to forest ecology, forest management, climate change mitigation and adaptation, fire resilience, and biodiversity. Greg also works to foster and grow the reach of the SFI Conservation Impact Project and the SFI Conservation Impact Workshop. His strong background in conservation includes a proven track record of implementing climate-informed forestry practices. Greg has developed and implemented science-based management practices focused on using climate-informed techniques to support resilient, biodiverse forests. He holds a Master of Environmental Management and a Master of Forestry from Duke University.

Chase Cook, Senior Manager, Conservation Implementation, SFI
Chase helps identify and implement strategies that promote, achieve, and measure the conservation outcomes of SFI-certified sustainable forest management. He collaborates with partners across the SFI network to use this conservation data to ensure the relevancy and effectiveness of SFI standards and objectives. Chase also seeks opportunities to engage and inform SFI certified organizations and experts about key sustainability topics relating to SFI’s work on climate, fire resilience, and biodiversity. Previously, he served as the SFI Program Coordinator at the University of Georgia, which included managing stakeholder input from 32 forest products companies and 11 supporting organizations. Chase holds a Master of Forest Resources from the University of Georgia and a Master of Science from Montana State University.

Zachary Wagman, RPF, Senior Manager, Market Access, SFI
Zac helps SFI-certified organizations develop marketing content to demonstrate the value of SFI to producers and consumers. He also supports SFI Implementation Committees in Canada where he works to create stronger connections between these committees and SFI-certified organizations through education, forest literacy, and career pathways programming. Zac also brings his skills to developing and delivering forest literacy training resources and tools including webinars, online learning, and educational content. His other responsibilities include researching ESG frameworks and identifying intersections with the SFI standards.
