We are a grassroots organization that focuses on stewardship actions and environmental education.
We strive to make Oakville a living city with enhanced natural diversity, stronger connections between natural areas, and healthier green spaces. We aim to reconnect people to the natural environment in their neighbourhood and across their community to increase their awareness of the importance of nature, and to move them to action to protect, enhance and restore Oakville’s natural environment.
Oakvillegreen is a non-partisan environmental charity that has been helping protect and restore nature through community education and local action since 2000.
Working closely with thousands of local volunteers, we protect and restore the ecological functions of local lands and waters, creating a more resilient and healthy community. We believe that through local, collaborative action, we can make a difference.
Our approach is to empower community action by providing the tools, knowledge and opportunity for individuals to make change happen locally. Through direct engagement and the promotion of nature-based climate solutions, we work to create a greener Oakville.
Oakvillegreen has been around for 22 years. In collaboration with local volunteers and community partners, we have been able to plant more than 35,500 trees helping restore 75 local sites. Involving more than 12,500 volunteers and inspiring more than 30,000 students.
