The Souris River Watershed Districts mission is to be a progressive community driven watershed organization dedicated to raising awareness about sustainable land and water stewardship practices and providing incentives for conservation programs to achieve a healthy diverse landscape and maintain a viable thriving community.
The Souris River Watershed District envisions a healthy sustainable diverse landscape capable of providing economic, social and environmental benefits for current and future generations.
Souris River Watershed District is a non-profit, grassroots organization covering 7500 square kilometers along the International boundary in southwestern Manitoba. The District includes all or parts of the Municipalities of Two Borders, Brenda-Waskada, Grassland, Deloraine-Winchester, Boissevain-Morton, Souris – Glenwood, Sifton, Pipestone and Wallace-Woodworth.
A Watershed District is a group of local people working together in partnership with the Province of Manitoba to attempt to maintain and improve sustainability on a specific landscape. These people realize the connectivity of our communities to the health of the watershed we live in. If we live in a vibrant, healthy watershed the quality of life will improve for all of the areas residents.
