Chu Cho Forestry

Chu Cho Forestry is a First Nation-owned forestry company which manages Tsay Keh Dene Nation’s forestry tenures. Chu Cho Forestry has established and staffs a Joint Venture Company named Finlay Forest Management with our business partners KDL Resouce Management. Chu Cho brings a stable and diverse workload to the joint venture and KDL Resource Management brings thier extensive experience and expertise in the field. Finlay Forest Management is based in Mackenzie, BC and specializes in full-phase development and has the capacity to deliver management solutions on a wide variety of projects. Our mission is to provide top quality and fully comprehensive products to our clients while providing employment opportunities within Tsay Keh Dene’s territory and beyond. Our objective is to be the dominant provider of forestry and other professional services within the Mackenzie TSA (Timber Supply Area) and a competitive and well-regarded contractor across BC.

Tsay Keh Dene received their first Non-Replaceable Forest License (NRFL) in August 2000. In 2012, Tsay Keh Dene formed Chu Cho Industries LP (CCI) and transferred the NRFL to CCI. Tsay Keh Dene’s Forestry tenures were administrated by a division of CCI until Chu Cho Forestry LLP (CCF) was established as a standalone company at the start of 2017. CCF was managed by outside contractors until 2019 when they hired an inhouse General Manager who was tasked with building the company and creating employment opportunities through CCF. Through this timeframe Tsay Keh Continued to acquire additional tenure including a Replaceable Forest License in 2017.
To create further job opportunities, CCF and KDL Resource Management entered into a joint venture, allowing CCF to obtain work as a consultant and rapidly build capacity. Finlay Forest Management was born out of this joint venture and CCF and KDL Resource Management’s Mackenzie Division work hand in hand to manage Tsay Keh Dene’s tenure and deliver quality forest management services to others within the Mackenzie TSA.
