Parry Sound Forest School, located in the Georgian Bay Biosphere, aims to connect children to the land where they experience child-led inquiry-based learning that enhances their physical, social, emotional and mental health. Beyond all this, our greatest goal is for our learners to learn to love the lands and forests in which we play, ultimately leading them towards lives that a have a focus on environmental protection and sustainability. We believe that the only way children can learn that forests matter is to spend time in them.
We began running summer camps in 2019, with a two week program and two staff. We now run year round with two locations and over ten staff in the summer.
Our founder and chief educator has a degrees in Environmental Studies and Education and taught for over twenty years in the school system before retiring to launch this ambitious project.
