The Wilder is a social enterprise which creates immersive, educational experiences for people to connect to each other, and with the beautiful wild that we need to protect. We are educators, connectors and community builders of networks of innovators, entrepeneurs, business leaders, individuals, and institutions interested in social and environmental impact and learning about taking action to protect the beautiful wild Earth and building better economies for future generations.

We create immersive learning opportunities to foster more sustainable, impactful and equitable business practices and empower individuals to take environmental and climate action, and to connect people with the beautiful wild that we need to protect through sustainable events and experiences, wilderness retreats and camps, immersive environmental art and creating communities of practice.

The Wilder folk are innovators, social entrepreneurs, business leaders and individuals interested in impactful business and sustainable behaviour that helps the earth to prosper, not just people.

Histoire de l'entreprise

The Wilder was just recently founded in 2021 and the flagship initiative planned is Camp Re-Wild in Squamish, May 2022, which is a summer camp focused on environmental education and bringing together social entrepreneurs, innovators, artists, creators, and individuals interested in learning about the beautiful wild that we need to protect. We are also planning an immersive art exhibition called Eulogy which is a memorial to biodiversity loss, as well as an online community of practice building series of speakers, networking, and connection opportunities. We have many more initiatives planned, including a local, social, sustainable food retreat, a pop up sustainability festival, and an art installation related to telling Indigenous stories of this land through sound and light installations.

The Founder of The Wilder, Melanie Lazelle, has spent more than the past decade working in sustainability, including for the last five years in sustainability education and creating immersive social innovation fellowships around the world, and creating climate change curriculum for youth. She has also built startups and is a human-centred-design facilitator and experienced advisor of early stage social enterprise startups. She is the Founder of Squamish’s Sustainability Network. The rest of The Wilder team includes a project manager highly experienced in the sustainable education space and with starting non profits, an Arts Advisor skilled in immersive, augmented reality art installations, a skilled facilitator and logistics volunteer, and we are building the rest of our volunteer and hopefully Marketing team with your support!
