Land Care Niagara (LCN) is committed to creating a healthy and sustainable rural and urban environment, consisting of citizens who are knowledgeable and active in land resource management. As a not-for-profit community-based organization we seek to provide services and information to rural landowners and other users of private and public lands in Niagara through educational outreach, training initiatives, and land stewardship activities.
Established in 1995, LCN is one of the original 46 Stewardship Councils throughout Ontario that was formed by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Ontario Stewardship Network. There are now only 14 councils remaining since the funding to the Ontario Stewardship Network was discontinued. Land Care Niagara has been involved in the planting of over 1.2 million trees in the Region of Niagara. This represents about 575 hectares of forest restored to trees.
Our Mission: To enhance Niagara naturally by promoting and enhancing responsible land use practices and cooperation through:
Education and Awareness: Increase environmental knowledge and understanding of adults and youth to foster sustainable communities in Niagara
Stewardship and Restoration: Provide programs and conduct projects that support a healthy rural and urban environment in Niagara
Partnerships and Community Involvement: Make measurable environmental improvements in Niagara through strategic partnerships and build the effectiveness of other community organizations
