The Lillooet Regional Invasive Species Society is a not for profit that has been delivering our program since 2011. We have 3 main programs: Coordination & Partnerships, Field & Outreach-Education. We work with 30 community partners including the 6 northern St’át’imc communities. We have grown our programs to include contract staff that mechanically remove invasives throughout our region. Seasonal LRISS staff also conduct inventory & removal of infestations as well as outreach activities. In the past 3 years, we have conducted water sampling as part of the BC-wide efforts to prevent invasive mussels from establishing. LRISS posts on 5 social media channels as well as a website that contributes to our outreach & education program. This program endeavours to reach a very high diversity of people engaging in a variety of activities: gardening, boating, hiking, biking and camping, for example.
Incorporated as a not for profit in 2011. Board of Directors with 6 members. Executive Director is hired annually to implement operations. Based out of Lillooet, BC. Region includes communities of Pavilion, Gold Bridge, Bralorne, Seton & Shalath.
